Not seeing the man immediately had finally brought you back to your senses. Why did you even give up on such a peaceful and unobstructed ride in order to sate this impulse? Now you're going to have to hail a jeepney again...
There was still some time, thankfully, as you didn't take too long during that short-lived chase. However, there was no denying that you still wasted that much time. You could have been chill, you could have ensured that you wouldn't rush.
You got on the next jeepney, and during the ride, you realized that you had now ended up as if you had left the house "on time". So much for being early... but at least, it seemed like you were going to make it somehow.
Soon, you got off in front of Del Mundo Tower, and you walked until you reached the stairs leading to the entrance. There was a growing group of bystanders, observing what could be some sort of accident.
Except it wasn't.
You saw what they were looking at, just slightly above them. It was a long-haired girl in a flowing, ruffled white dress. And she was falling slowly. Very slowly.
Her eyes, looking sideways at this point, met yours for a moment. From what you could tell, she seemed to be wordlessly asking for help. And her arms looked like they were trying to grasp anything that would help break her fall.
You felt from deep in your soul that you had to do something, but what?
